so I have now become addicted to subway art!

I have just fallen in love with the typography and colors and oh all the fun!!!  I saw a few that were made for babies rooms and had to make one for my very best friend and her new baby.  When i went to see the new family at the hospital right after their bundle of joy was born I asked both mom and dad what their first thoughts were and added them to the poster.  My contribution is "chubby cheeks" cause my new niece has some really chubby ones.  Here it is:
I made it in Adobe Illustrator CS3.  The babies room is purples and blues mostly.  I had it printed at Costco (my favorite place to print photos!) and it looks great. Now I just have to go find a frame and mat it.  I can't wait to see it hanging in her room.

Valentine's day Subway art for Husband

I bought a blank canvas at Michael's last week and started my husbands Valentine's day gift.  We normally don't do gifts but this year I have been in a valentines day slump, I am a big (huge) fan of this holiday that is there so I can spoil my man with silly gifts of love.  I will make a special dinner and decorate and of course there is lots of homemade crafts around.  This year I m just not feeling it.  I have made a few things, but as for the DAY I haven't planned much.  I will be making dinner (Rib eye with whiskey cream sauce, loaded mashed potatoes, homemade ranch with iceberg wedge salad, rosemary rolls and chocolate lava cake with raspberry sauce and vanilla bean ice cream) but it just doesn't feel like it is valentines day this year.  OK lets get back to my point, the subway art project.

I painted the canvas a color that would go well in my bedroom.  I really love the subway art that is black and white but didn't think it would go very well in my room so I painted mine french blue.  I used my cricut to cut out a bunch of words that explain our 10 year relationship.  I love all the different fonts but you could use anything you like.  Also you could cut these out by hand and use a smaller canvas.  I also saw one where the person used stickers to spell out there words and then spray paint the canvas and pulled the stickers back off.  After all the work of gluing on the letters/words I think I will go this route next time.

how to make a baby bouquet

I love the baby bunch bouquets from http://www.babybunch.com/content/test but am just to cheap to buy one.  I decided to try to make one for my best friend.  I goggled baby bunch bouquet directions and found the Martha Stewart had directions.  Check them out here: http://www.marthastewart.com/article/baby-bunch-bouquet  this was so much easier than I thought it would be.  I "planted" the bouquet into a clay pot and ta-da! a wonderful gift for the mommy to be.
I used 1 onesie, a t-shirt, bib, 2 pairs of socks and 5 hats to make mine.  I just folded and rolled them up, stuck some florist wire inside and added the leaves and flowers.  Next time I will find a way to attach the wire inside before i roll them so they stay put a little better.  This would be a great gift for a mom at the hospital or at a shower.  I had fun picking out the outfits so the "bouquet" would have allot of color.

wedding project #2

or 3 depending on how your counting.  Tulle pom poms.  I LOVE THESE!!!!!!!  I found these on Martha Stewart weddings. Here's a link to the directions:  http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/article/tulle-or-net-pom-poms-how-to

We hung these over the bar (that's my nephew, he poured the sodas).  They were really easy and could be used anywhere.  If you hung a few on pieces of ribbon they would be great in a nursery!

This is my sister and me being silly the day before the wedding. We set everything that wouldn't get ruined with a little dew the day before so we wouldn't have to do to much the day of.
