Craft and Cocktail Party

So the craft and cocktail party was a success! No one finished, it took a lot longer than we had thought but was so fun and they were turning out great!!! My niece even helped by passing everyone strips of fabric ;) We used 4 main colors of fabric, red w/ white pok-a-dots, pink leopard print, light pink,  and red with dots and hearts.  Then we cut up a bunch of my Grandma's old quilting fabric my mom had been holding onto.

I will post pictures of my finished wreath as soon as I get a wreath hanger and get it up on the door.  We had snacks and yummy mango vodka cocktails.  Can't wait for our next project!

What's cooking Thursday night at Crafty Welder Chick's house?

I LOVE The Pioneer Woman! I repeat I LOVE THE PIONEER WOMAN!!!!! If you haven't checked out her blog please do.  http://thepioneerwoman.com/  I am always cooking recipes from her blog.  Last night it was pantry pasta for two.  I loved it, my man loved it and my best friend (who is preggo) loved it! So we had pantry pasta for three.  http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/01/pantry-pasta-for-two/ .  It was soooooo good!  but that's what we had last night, tonight I will be attempting the Beef with snow peas from her site.  http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/10/beef-with-snow-peas/  I love snow peas!!!!  and will let you know how it turns out.

1-28-2011

Well the plans for yummy beef and snow peas have been postponed.  I was out shopping for craft supplies for Crafts and Cocktails day to late.  So we had Flank steak with garlic wine sauce instead.  I did not make the roasted garlic though, like I said I got home pretty late so all I did was sear the steak in a cast iron skillet and cook until done.  We ate this on a nice big salad with homemade croutons.

Wedding stuff

This morning I woke up thinking about our wedding.  This time 2 years ago I was in full wedding planing mode.  The man proposed at the end of December and I wanted a May wedding without waiting over a year (we had been dating for 8+ years at the time).  It was so much fun to plan such a big event!  I am a super organized person so I started lists and got my trusty wedding idea notebook off the shelf and blew the dust off of it.  I knew from the start that I wanted everything to be home made, well everything I could make.  I made our invitations, decorations, cake topper, my hair piece, the necklaces for the girls.....well lots of stuff.  In the next few days I will be sharing a few of my projects. Here's one of my favorites......
My love is sweet banner.  We (my sister and I) cut all the circles and letters out by hand, used my trusty glue stick to glue the letters to the circles, hole punched and just tied them together with raffia.  We were going for a country picnic theme.  Oh and do you see my home made cake stands?  Here is a picture:
They are a upside down bowl with a plate glued with gorilla glue on the top (I got the plates and bowls at the dollar store).  Aren't they super cute?  I love them.  Each of my un-bridesmaids got one with their thank you for keeping me sane gifts :)    OK that's it for today.

Crafts and cocktails: A DIY party

So myself and a few friends are going to start getting together for craft days, well crafts , cocktails and girl time.  Our first project is going to be a Valentine's Day rag wreath like http://roundyrounds.blogspot.com/ posted on her blog this week.  I love it! and it looks like an easy project so I don't scare the beginning crafters away.  I got a bunch of fabric from my mom that my Grandma used to use for quilting and will be picking up some new stuff from the fabric store.  We got our box wreath frames from Michael's and are hoping our project can be under $10, we will see after the shopping adventure.  Stay tuned........
